SquadPod offers a variety of video-enabled features including screen share. All users can view screen shares, but only users on the web version of the SquadPod app on desktops or laptops can initiate screen share in a video call.
Screen share in a video call
The steps for screen share are browser-specific. Please follow the steps listed below for your browser.
Chrome and Edge
- Within the video call, click the icon.
- Select Share screen from the menu.
- On the popup with screen share options, select one of the three tabs--your entire screen, application window, or a browser tab--depending on the content you would like to share.
- After selecting a tab, click the screen, application window, or browser tab you would like to share.
- Click the Share button at the bottom right of the popup.
Firefox
- Within the video call, click the icon.
- Select Share screen from the menu.
- A popup will appear asking if you will allow the SquadPod app to share your screen. Click the Window or Screen to share drop-down menu.
- From the dropdown menu, select the Entire screen or the window you would like to share.
- Click Allow.
Safari
Note: on Safari, your only screen share option is to share your entire screen.
- Within the video call, click the icon.
- Select Share screen from the menu.
- A popup will appear asking if you will allow the SquadPod app to observe your screen. Click Allow to share your entire screen.
Troubleshooting tip: Mac users - if you are sharing screen for the first time and it does not work then you need to check your System Settings -> Security & Privacy -> Screen Recording. Check the browser you use to access your SquadPod account. You can return to your browser, refresh the page, and re-try the screen share.
End screen share
These steps apply to all of the browsers listed above--Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
- To stop sharing your screen, click icon.
- Select Stop sharing screen from the menu.
View another user's screen share
These steps apply to all of the browsers listed above--Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
- When another user on the call shares their screen, your video call will automatically switch to presenter view with the shared screen displayed as the main track. The user's name will appear at the bottom of the shared screen and a computer icon will display on the user's video feed in the participant list on the left to indicate which user is sharing their screen.
Note: If the screen share does not appear then you can pin the participant screen sharing to view their screen.
