Who can create chats?
Squad Admins, Users, and Guests can create chats. Squad Viewers can be added to chats so they can participate in the conversation but they cannot create one.
SquadPod offers two different chat types - a direct chat and a group chat. A direct chat is a chat with one other squad member. No other squad members can be added to this chat type. A group chat is a chat that can have multiple members and includes roles/permissions and the ability to manage membership.
Create a direct chat on Android
- Tap the Chats icon in the bottom navigation bar.
- Press the '+' plus button.
- Add a squad member to the direct chat by tapping 'Add User' and selecting a member from the list.
- Press 'Create'.
- Send a message to start the chat with the other squad member.
Note: If you add a chat name when creating a direct chat, the chat type will change to a group chat.
Create a group chat on Android
- Tap the Chats icon in the bottom navigation bar.
- Press the '+' plus button.
- Enter a name - this is a required field for group chats. The name can be edited at a later time.
- Upload an image to set as the chat avatar, or stick with the default image provided.
- Add squad members by tapping 'Add User' and selecting members from the list.
- Set the role of each chat member - the default role is User, so members can participate in the conversation.

You will be directed to your new group chat. The squad members you added to your chat can access it immediately. As a chat admin, you can add additional squad members and manage each member's role from Chat Settings.
